About the Business
Established in 1960. Porto's Bakery was born out of Rosa's love for sharing her wonderful cakes and pastries with friends and family. Today the Porto family is still committed to using the finest ingredients from all over the world ensuring that quality remains the cornerstone of the Porto tradition. Rosa Porto passed away in 2019, but her three children and grandchildren work alongside a talented and dedicated team to carry on the Porto's tradition and Rosa's legacy. Rosa's recipes and high standards continue to be carried on by her family, reflective of her motto "quality is the number one ingredient in everything we do". Come visit our bakery and you will experience home baking at its best. Porto's Bakery has gradually grown into multiple bakeries across Southern California. Just as Porto's Bakery started in Rosa's home back in Cuba, with Porto's Bake at Home we now ship nationwide our most popular pastries, and cakes directly to you.

Q:
I've never been to this location. What time should I come to avoid parking struggles? Also, I saw in some reviews that they make you stand in line even if you're picking up an order? Is this still an issue?
A:
It's hit and miss. Yes, you have to wait before and after. It's best to have a plan and go with someone else that can wait for you and make rotations to cut your wait time. Thank me later
Arnel D.Â2 months ago 1 person found this helpfulQ:
Can I pay by cash? Also do they open tomorrow?
A:
Of course you can pay with cash and yes, they are open.

I enjoy the food and desserts from Porto's. The food we have tried has always satisfied the craving.
Their house is always packed but worth the wait.
You can always order ahead but make sure you are the person picking up. They ask for proof of CC used and Id to make sure it is you.
Location in Buena Park is right off the 91 freeway so you cannot miss it. The vibe is good over all. You can sit and dine or take to go.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 5, 2024
As someone who hails from the East coast, I've never seen such a large cafe that had so many stations! Once you enter you'll be greeted by an attendant who asks you what you're looking for and will direct foot traffic. There's a drink bar, a dine-in section for pastries, and then another for (probably) take out / online orders.
I was feeling adventurous that particular morning and didn't mind the deep fried stuff, and I'm glad that was so. I was blown away by the croquettes (ham; corn; de pollo) and the potato ball. And the sweeter pastries were a huge hit for my group! Pineapple empanada, apple strudel, chocolate chip cookie, guava & cheese strudel.. To think that most of these were actually recommendations made by the very helpful employee behind the table.
Shout out to Chris for making my first trip to Porto's one to remember! You're a real one, man.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Carla G.Las Vegas, NV358153May 31, 2024
there are separate areas for pick-up, bakery orders, cake orders, and coffee orders - you can order drinks from the bakery line! lines are long but there's a bunch of workers to help compensate. i was helped by two people (went back in line as i needed to order more) but only got the name of one. jocelyn was super nice! i had to take a phone call as they weren't serving something my family had wanted and she was very patient with us.
great variety of baked goods that are always consistent in quality. will always pay a visit whenever i'm in southern california!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 29, 2024
Here for lunch. Asked for a recommendation from the staff - for something savory and flavorful, they recommended two things, this chicken is amazing. The lemon and the flavor is just as good or better than it looks.
They did tell me this had less quantity of meat than the other one but they thought this one tasted better and I'm glad I picked it. I'm huge on savory/meat and good portions so even though the portions aren't the most, this was so good that I wouldn't mind getting it again.
And I'm usually someone who will try different things on the menu!
Crowded, but you can usually get a table. Casual seating, you can see pictures and tell everything really.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 174325501May 28, 20241 check-in
I'm not from California, so whenever I do visit, I HAVE to stop by a Porto's Bakery. Ain't no way I am ever skipping it. The price you pay for how good the food is is amazing. We have nothing like this on the East coast. Sad.
We got a bunch of potato balls, cuban sandwiches, pastries, and everything tasted so good (as usual). I think if I lived here, I would be eating here at least once a week or more.
The interior was very clean for how much volume of people there were. Lines were super long, but moved quickly. There are two large areas with the same menu for the main food/bakery items, and one designated drink area in between them. I believe there is also an upstairs, but I wasn't able to check it out because I stopped by close to closing time.
Plenty of parking in a lot right outside, but you can easily confuse it for the Medieval Times parking lot, fyi.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 20, 2024
Porto's is pretty clutch
Service tends to be pretty good, but when they are super busy it's a little hard to get their attention. Granted when are they not busy lol
Black bean soup is BOMB and flavorful
Potato leek soup is better on paper, but not as comforting as other places
Steak torta tasted better the next day??
Medianoche sandwich + chicken milanese are delish
Horchata coffee is aite
Eat your sandwiches inside so that you get the plantain chips
Other favs:
Corn croquette. Holy !! The cream sauce inside makes it more interesting than the ham croquette
Chicken empanada is kinda sweet but satisfying
Ham + chicken croquette
Dulce de leche kisses
Milk n berries cake
Guava cheese roll for sweet and salty
Cheese ball over potato all day everyday. Your arteries will thank you
Spinach feta
They also offer mamey shakes! Not many places offer this drink, but it's great.
If you spend $50-$70 it will feed two ppl over 3 days lolHelpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - May 23, 2024
LA staple that grew from one store in Burbank to a few shops around SoCal. Still somehow held their pricing, flavor, and quality.
Super packed on weekends (or in general). Expect a wait and hard to park. Order ahead for pickup and save yourself a longer wait.
Guava rolls, potato meatballs, and their chicken croquettes are my favorite.
Their cakes are also amazing, Cuban sandwich is decent. But their spicy chicken Milanese is the better imo
Coffee selection is ok- a tad sweet on the lattes. Must go if you're a tourist or want to bring a nice item to people in townHelpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 26, 20241 check-in
Lots of pastries and breads, sandwiches and soups at this location.
We come for the desserts although their sandwiches are great as well.
Parking is decent but since there is a lot of people coming in and out it should not be a problem. Staff is friendly, efficient and professional.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
